New Oil Paintings

I've just posted a lot of new oil paintings on my web site.

Take a look and enjoy, and then go through all the galleries and have fun!

I was born into a medicine family in China where every child was expected to go to medical school.   But  I was never crazy about pills or surgical knives.

After complete my formal education in United States and becoming a licensed attorney in Missouri, however, I found my passion in art and fell in love with painting brushes and pallet knives.

Each time I  hold my favorite brush or pallet knife to paint, I feel most alive.  Beautiful images and inspiring ideas pass through my mind, strong emotions run through my body, and enormous energy enter me from the water, the land, and the sky, shaking my soul.  I have no choice but paint --- paint with burst energy, paint to express my emotions, paint to describe the impression I received from this world.

It is my hope that through my paintings I share with viewers the impression I received, the emotions I experienced, and the ideas that come to me while I am painting.

Most time I feel I cannot paint fast enough to capture the amazing feelings running through me. I hope you can feel the energy, impression and emotions when a viewer looks at my paintings, each and every time, no matter he or she stays with the painting for hours or a few seconds.

Influenced by both ancient Chinese abstract painting and the French and Russian Impressionists' works, I am searching for my own expressive style which intends to combine the Eastern and Western art traditions --- the efficient and expressive brush strokes of the Chinese Abstract ink painting and the brilliant color and interesting texture of impressionist painting.

A compulsive painter, I experiment with various media and methods.  I love oil, watercolor and pastel, and acrylic.  I paint on canvas, acrylic sheet, or glass.  Some of my favorite paintings were painted on glass or Plexiglas with knife or brush.  The endless ways of reflection, refraction and deflection of glass fascinate me.
